Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala will be confirmed as the Director of the World Trade Organization (WTO) today.
If finally confirmed, she will be the first woman and the first African leader of the beleaguered World Trade Organization.

This comes after the WTO called a special general council meeting where the former Nigerian finance minister and World Bank veteran is expected to be formally confirmed as the global trade body’s new director-general.
This comes after US President Joe Biden strongly endorsed her candidacy shortly after the South Korean Trade Minister Yoo Myung-hee, pulled out.
