Wizkid and Tems’ monster hit ‘Essence’ has made another giant musical strides after it won an award at the 2021 BET Soul Train Awards.
The song was adjudged the Collaboration of the Year at the show which went down live at the historic Apollo Theater in New York City on Sunday, November 28 2021. Starboy and Tems were each nominated for 5 awards respectively at the prestigious award ceremony.
Wizkid was nominated for Album of the Year with Made in Lagos while Tems was nominated for the Best New Artist award.
The duo was also jointly nominated for the Song of The Year, Video of The Year, The Ashford and Simpson songwriter’s award, and Best Collaboration for Essence, which they eventually won.
The Soul Train Music Awards is an annual music awards show which previously aired in national broadcast syndication, and honors the best in African-American culture music and entertainment.
Meanwhile, a video of two die-hard fans of 2022 Grammy-nominated Nigerian artiste Wizkid fighting over his sweaty towel at his concert has emerged on the internet.
While dishing out an epic performance on stage during his Made In Lagos concert in the UK, the singer rolled his towel and threw it into the crowd for one of his lucky Wizkid FC members to grab it home as a souvenir.
The towel landed in the middle where two female fans who loved him dearly were standing and a short struggle ensued on who had the right to take it home- provoking massive reactions from netizens in the process.
